Midway through Julie Taymor’s The Glorias, there’s a scene where Gloria Steinem (Alicia Vikander), famous spokeswoman for the American feminist movement, is gamely tolerating sexist questions from a gawking talk-show host who describes her outfit — a black long-sleeve shirt and black jeans — as inappropriately “sexy.” Then, suddenly, the set breaks apart, the bright […]

My Octopus Teacher
I recommend watching “My Octopus Teacher” on Netflix. It is the best wildlife documentary I have ever seen. It’s an amazing 85-minute film and quite the departure from the shoot ’em ups of fiction and real life going on.
A Must-Watch
Horror Scenes That I Love: The Drive to the Overlook from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining
As I’ve stated many times on this site, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining is one of my favorite horror films and it’s also one of the few horror films that can still scare me even after I’ve seen it hundreds of time. Those two little “Come and play with us” girls still freak me out and […]

Anatole Litvak Week or Maybe Fortnight! Been watching lots of films by the not-insanely prolific but prolific-enough Kiev-born megaphonist and there is much to admire. So I don’t think I can fit it into seven posts and so why let it spill over when I can just call it a fortnight and look like I […]

That Thing You Do!
That Thing You Do! 1996 Directed by Tom Hanks Quick synopsis… In 1964, teenage garage band The One-ders become an overnight sensation when their debut song jumps to the top of the charts. Children of the Sea (Kaijū no Kodomo)
Children of the Sea (Kaijū no Kodomo) 2019 Kicking off this review with some useless trivia – I had actually arranged with my local cinema to maybe screen Children of the Sea back in January but the bushfires prevented that – and obviously, I didn’t want people to risk their lives on entertainment stuff at […]

Documentary: “Tell Me Who I Am”
Tell Me Who I Am (2019) Any film or documentary that centres on identical twins and their relationship is fascinating in its own right, but if that film or documentary also involves the case of total amnesia, dark secrets and completely buried past, then it becomes one of the most interesting ever filmed (at least […]

My Little Sister – A Sun
Hakkında çok fazla şey söylemek istemediğim ya da izleyişimin üzerinden biraz fazla zaman geçtiği için yeterince net konuşamayacağım filmleri #UzunLafınKısası serisinde toparlıyorum. Bu bölümün konukları Uluslararası Oscar yarışından izleme imkanı bulduğum My Little Sister ve A Sun. My Little Sister (Schwesterlein): İsviçre’nin Oscar adayı, ülkemizde de İstanbul Film Festivalinin çevrimiçi seçkisi kapsamında gösterilen Kız Kardeşim. […]

Aşk Ve Gurur
İzlediğim en etkileyici filmlerden biriydi diyebilirim. Aşkın saf halini insanı nasıl dizginleştirip önyargısını kırdığını birbir görmek çok heyecan vericiydi.Kibir ve gururu dize getirebilecek tek gerçeğin Aşk olduğunu görüyoruz. 18.
