1. “The Witcher” Season 2 (available December 17) Why Should I Watch? It’s been two years since Henry Cavill cast his spell on the world, and the titular Witcher’s long-awaited return to Netflix is finally upon us. I’m going to be honest: I do not remember much about this show. Twenty-four months — especially these…

Ruthless People
I wasn’t old enough to beat the 18 certificate back in 1986, and it’s been a long, long wait for me to finally catch up on Ruthless People, 35 years to be exact. Directed by the Airplane team of David Zucker, Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams, and written by Dale Launer, it’s never been remade […]

Rebel Without a Cause (1955) Confession, Preconception And My Punishment.
Here’s some random waffle from your friendly movie blog host Mikey Wolfman and a review, of sorts, for Rebel Without a Cause. I do hope you are sitting down, not because the length of the upcoming ramblings but for the shock horror factor that this here “movie fan” had never seen it! Insert blood curdling […]

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2022) Preview with first teaser trailer
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) Yep, that’s the fantastically inspired title! And the first teaser trailer has appeared. Is anyone interested beyond the fan boys who will lap up anything they are given? This really does seem like money-grubbing. But we may be pleasantly surprised. After all, the 2018 Halloween reboot was ok with caveats. Pity […]

Happy Days Are Here Again for “The Morning Show”
The news doesn’t stop, no matter what’s going on behind the scenes. You either keep up or get left behind. In this case, however, it’s not so much about keeping up. It’s about recapping a terrible, terrible year. Well, enough of the events contained within it. Time will tell if these storyline approaches will […]

REVIEW: “ENCOUNTER” (2021)
Well to say this film went into the unexpected might not quite sum up completely as writers Joe Barton and Michael Pearce, whom directs as well, take us on a road trip journey of science fiction – adding in a very personal side to the lead character, that at first is just thought of as […]

Mr. Robot (2015-2019)
Thought I haven’t found Rami Malek’s recent performances compelling, he is absolutely brilliant in Mr. Robot! It’s as if he’s lived his entire life with the goal to play the role of Elliot Alderson—a cybersecurity engineer who has crippling social anxiety, is addicted to morphine, and grapples with an imaginary friend. The opening scene is […]

Which Character From ‘Succession’ Would Make The Best Drinking Buddy
Among a list of characters from ‘Succession’ that are all flawed and pretty much terrible, there has to be at least one you’d have a drink with. Right?

Succession and the hidden injuries of the neoliberal subject
At no point does Succession suggest these characters are sociopathic, as unlikable as they are. What makes it so powerful is how vividly we see the emotional damage which this over-saturation of strategic conduct does to them. The points at which they want to reach out, to find comfort through closeness, only to realise they’re imprisoned by the logic of a situation in which they’re in a zero-sum competition for succession with those closest to them.

Kulüp (The Club)
Son günlerde Türk dizi yapımlarıyla arası bozuk olanlar için Netflix’den sevecen bir el uzandı: Kulüp. İlk bölümü 5 Kasım 2021 tarihinde yayımlanan; Seren Yüce ve Zeynep Günay Tan ikilisinin yönetmenliğini yaptığı; Aysin Akbulut, Rana Denizer ve Necati Şahin üçlüsünün senaryosunu kaleme aldığı dizi konusu, atmosferi ve oyunculuk performansları ile bu küslüğü bitirecek düzeyde. Squid Game is already gathering much buzz and interest with its intriguing premise ahead of its premiere. CODA
Apple TV + hasn’t exactly established itself as the go-to place for new movies; Ted Lasso is probably the biggest draw to date. But they certainly made a splash paying $25 million at Sundance for CODA, writer and director Sian Heder’s slight but utterly charming film about a fishing family living with deafness. CODA is […]

Gender-switch comedy from Colombia — “Lokillo (Mi Otra Yo)”
“Lokillo,” aka “Lokillo en: Mi Otra Yo” is a Colombian comedy about a sexist TV chat show host forced to dress as a woman and hide out in prison after he crosses a Colombian drug lord. This “Around the World with Netflix” offering is seriously malnourished as comedy. There’s barely a chuckle in it, at […]
